Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in La Liga 30 months after they moved out for construction to commence.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
