Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
