Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order put a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public personalities shared divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate ought to have intervened when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
