Miami Heat & Portland Trail Blazers Secure First Wins Following Player Detentions
The Miami Heat recorded 86 opening half points against the Grizzlies
The Heat earned a decisive 146 to 114 win against the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial basketball match since player Terry Rozier was arrested for suspected unlawful gambling.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also detained as part of a broad FBI investigation into sports betting. Both men contest the allegations.
However, the Heat were not distracted as they put up 86 first-half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the biggest halftime lead in the team's 37-year existence.

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events
Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.
"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."
The commissioner further said an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he participated for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he added.
"We then looked into that situation and were open regarding it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.
"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office is unable to.
"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they announced yesterday was an charge.
"And 30 months after, he has not been found guilty of any offense, in justice to Terry.
"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and investigating."

Houston Rockets were defeated 115 to 111 by the Pistons even with 37 points from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, 11 boards and 9 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win over the New Orleans.
