Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
